Private Organizations
POs (Private Organizations) are self-sustaining special interest groups, set up by people acting exclusively outside the scope of any official capacity as officers, employees, or agents of the Federal Government. POs are not Federal entities and are not to be treated as such. They operate on Air Force installations with the written consent of the installation commander. Information concerning establishing and operating a PO, the annual oversight requirements, fundraising limitations and more can be found in AFI 34-223 and the Private Organization Guide.

Unofficial activities are small groups of individuals who are not required to be formally established as a PO because their current monthly assets do not exceed a monthly average of $1,000.00 over a 3-month period.
